Importance and distribution

Tintelnotia comprises two species. Tintelnotia destructans causes keratitis associated with contact lens wear and ocular trauma and keratomycosis present as a superinfection in herpetic keratitis (Roels et al. 2020) in Europe (Germany) while T. opuntiae is known on cladodes of Opuntia (Cactaceae) in South America (Peru). Tan et al. (2020) reported Tintelnotia destructans superinfection in herpetic keratitis in Australia.
