Importance and distribution

Protothyrium comprises three species known on Piper (Piperaceae), leaves of Tricalysia lanceolata (Rubiaceae), living leaves of Trichilia havanensis and T. oerstediana (Meliaceae). Protothyrium is reported from Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, KwaZulu-Natala), Asia (India, Malaysia, Yemen) and Central America (Costa Rica).
