Importance and distribution
There are 40 Parmularia epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but several species have been transferred to Inocyclus, Lecanora, Lobothallia, Mintera, Nipponoparmelia, Olegblumia, Protoparmeliopsis, Rhagadolobium, Rhipidocarpon, Rhizoplaca, Squamarina and Viegasella. Parmularia is reported from wide range of hosts such as Styrax sp. (Styracaceae), Dryopteris sp. (Dryopteridaceae), Stigmatopteris sp. (Dryopteridaceae), leaves of Miconia (Melastomataceae), Portia (Malvaceae) and leaves of Aechmea pectinata (Bromeliaceae). Parmularia is reported from Oceania (New Zealand) and South America (Brazil, Venezuela).
