Importance and distribution

Exutisphaerella comprises only one species causing needle cast disease of European larch (Larix deciduas, Pinaceae) in Europe (Switzerland) (Palmer and Ostry 1986). It has the potential to decrease tree growth and kill highly susceptible trees (Ostry and Nicholls 1989).
