Description:
Pathogenic on leaf surface. Sexual morph: Ascomata 145–218.5 μm high, 170–230 μm diam., immersed under epidermis or semi-immersed to erumpent, visible as tiny black dot in leaf spot lesion, dark brown to black, uniloculate, globose to subglobose, ostiolate, papillate, clustered, gregarious. Asci 75–112× 14–20 µm, (x̄ = 79.6 × 15.1 µm, n = 10), bitunicate, fissitunicate, 8-spored, clavate to cylindric-clavate, short pedicellate, apically rounded with an ocular chamber, hamathecium. Ascospores 21–30 × 5–9 µm, (x̄ = 25.6 × 6.5 µm, n = 10), 2-seriate, hyaline, guttulate, oblong to fusiform with obtuse ends, upper cell larger than the lower cell, uniseptate, constricted at the septum. Asexual morph: Unknown.
Material examined: South Africa, Wellington, Cape Province, on leaves of Protea melaleuca (Proteaceae), 22 February 1912, Doidge Ethel M (BPI 621547).
