Importance and distribution
Hysterobrevium comprises six species. Hysterobrevium constricta on decorticated wood in Asia (Japan (Honshu)). Hysterobrevium curvatum on Lonicera xylosteum (Caprifoliaceae), Populus tremula (Salicaceae) and Quercus robur (Fagaceae) in Europe (Sweden). Hysterobrevium hakeae on fruit of Hakea actites (Proteaceae) in Australia (Victoria). Hysterobrevium mori on Cornus sanguinea (Cornaceae) and Hysterobrevium rosae on dead aerial branch of Rosa canina (Rosaceae) in Europe (Italy). Hysterobrevium smilacis is known from the United States (Michigan) (CBS 245.34) and one from Africa (Kenya) (GKM 1013 / BPI 879788) from the CBS sequencing project.
