Importance and distribution

Two species of Naetrocymbe have been synonymized and transferred to Limacinia and Pleomerium. Naetrocymbe comprises 25 species known on a wide range of plants such as Achras zapota (Sapotaceae), Adiantum (Pteridaceae), bark of Fraxinus (Oleaceae), Bougainvillea glabra (Nyctaginaceae), Clidemia hirta (Melastomataceae), Corylus avellana (Betulaceae), Cupania americana (Sapindaceae), Fagus (Fagaceae), Jambosa jambos (Myrtaceae), Lafoensia glyptocarpa (Lythraceae), Mauritia vinifera (Arecaceae), Miconia laevigata (Melastomataceae), Monnieria trifolia (Rutaceae), Psidium guajava (Myrtaceae), Stigmaphyllon sp. (Malpighiaceae), Xylopia frutescens (Annonaceae) and on volcanic rock. Naetrocymbe is reported from Europe (Italy, United Kingdom), South America (Brazil) and the United States (California).
