Importance and distribution

There are 24 Puttemansia epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but many have been transferred to Allonecte, Byssocallis, Miyakeomyces, Paranectriella and Podonectria. Puttemansia comprises 16 species known on Lauraceae and Poaceae and parasitic on the fungus Phaeodomus erumpens. Puttemansia is reported from Asia (Japan), Caribbean (Dominican Republic), Central America (Costa Rica) and South America (Brazil).
