Importance of genus to ecosystem

Species of Simplicidiella are saprobic and cause decomposition of integument of Atta capiguara gyne.

 

Industrial relevance and applications

There is currently no industrial application of Simplicidiella.

 

Quarantine significance

No biocontrol agent from Simplicidiella has been identified so far. Further studies are needed.

 

Biochemical importance of the genus, chemical diversity or applications

The chemical diversity of Simplicidiella is unknown. Neoceratosperma may produce important enzymes and toxins that trigger disease in host plants.

 

Diversity of the genus

Simplicidiella comprises only one species known on integument of gyne of Atta capiguara (Formicidae) in São Paulo.
