Importance and distribution
Constantinomyces species are melanized rock inhabiting fungi and show stress tolerance and substrate interaction abilities (Ruibal et al. 2018). They are active agents and cause noticeable change patterns and exfoliation of stone monuments (Onofri et al. 2014). Constantinomyces comprises four species reported from Europe (Spain (Beleares)).
