Constantinomyces

Constantinomyces Egidi & Onofri, in Crous et al., Fungal Systematics and Evolution 3: 126 (2019).

             Index Fungorum number: IF 829388; Facesoffungi number: FoF 07004, 4 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), 4 species with molecular data.

            Parasitic on rock. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Colonies growing slowly, velvety and greyish in obverse, dark in reverse, with regular margin, elevate centrally and near the periphery. Hyphae septate, thick-walled, elongated or cylindrical in later stages; torulose guttulate hyphae sometimes present, brown, thick-walled, smooth (adapted from Egidi et al. 2014).

 

Type species: Constantinomyces virgultus Egidi & Onofri

 

Notes: Constantinomyces has only hyphal morphology. Quaedvlieg et al. (2014) placed Constantinomyces in Teratosphaeriaceae based on multigene analyses of LSU, Actin, Calmodulin, ITS, RPB2, TEF-1 and Btub. Molecular markers available for Constantinomyces are LSU, SSU, ITS, BTUB and RPB2.
