Importance and distribution

There are 117 Teichospora records in Index Fungorum (2022), but many species have been transferred to other genera such as Aurantiascoma, Capnodium, Capronia, Chaetoplea, Cilioplea, Cucurbitaria, Decaisnella, Discostroma, Hypoxylon, Karstenula, Limacinula, Magnibotryascoma, Massarina, Melanomma, Montagnula, Pleosphaeria, Pleospora, Pleostigma, Strickeria, Teichosporella and Thyridium. Teichospora has a wide host range including Acer negundo (Sapindaceae), Fraxinus viridis (Oleaceae), Lavandula angustifolia (Lamiaceae), Negundo aceroides (Sapindaceae), Populus monilifera (Salicaceae), Thymus vulgaris (Lamiaceae), Crataegus monogyna (Rosaceae), Liriodendron tulipifera (Magnoliaceae), Magnolia sp. (Magnoliaceae), Aesculus hippocastanum (Sapindaceae), Betula sp. (Betulaceae), Cassandra calyculata (Ericaceae), Eucalyptus globulus (Myrtaceae), Juniperus sp. (Cupressaceae), Prunus domestica (Rosaceae) and Robinia pseudoacacia (Fabaceae). Teichospora is known from Asia (China, India, Pakistan), Europe (Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, Spain), and North America (Canada, the United States).
