Importance and distribution

Labrocarpon comprises only one species known on lichen thallus in Africa (Canary Islands) (Hawksworth 1982), Europe (Madeira, Italy, Portugal, Spain) (Calatayud et al. 1995, Hafellner 1995, Nimis 1993, Pérez-Ortega and Etayo 2010) and South America (Brazil) (Diederich 2003). Labrocarpon canariensis usually occurs on unidentified saxicolous whitish yellow crust that belongs to the genus Pertusaria (Pérez-Ortega and Etayo 2010).
