Importance and distribution
There are 211 records of Lembosia in Index Fungorum (2022), but many have been transferred to Cirsosia, Echidnodella, Echidnodes, Hysterostomella, Lembosina, Lembosiopsis, Leveillella, Macowaniella, Morenoina, Morqueria, Prillieuxina, Pseudolembosia, Rhagadolobium, Rhipidocarpon, Trichamelia and Viegasia. Lembosia comprises 160 species known on hosts in Annonaceae, Araucariaceae, Asparagaceae, Combretaceae, Dipterocarpaceae, Ebenaceae, Lauraceae and Melastomataceae. Lembosia has been reported from Africa (Ivory Coast), Asia (India (Kerala), Philippines), Australia (New South Wales, Norfolk Islands), North America (Caribbean (Dominican Republic, The United States), South America (Brazil, Paraguay) and many more.
