Description:
Saprobic on wood. Sexual morph: Ascomata 250–275 μm diam., 195–275 μm high, clustered, gregarious, erumpent, subglobose to globose, medium-sized, dark brown to black, ostiolate. Ostiole apex somewhat papillate to depressed, coriaceous. Peridium 35–45 μm comprising few layers of dark brown cells of textura angularis. Hamathecium 2.0–3.0 μm of dense, hyaline, broad, pseudoparaphyses embedded in a gelatinous matrix. Asci 95–115 × 12–13 μm (x̄ = 98.2 × 12.8 µm, n = 20), 8-spored, bitunicate, fissitunicate, clavate, straight to curved, with a short broad pedicel, rounded at apex with an ocular chamber. Ascospores 15–17 × 5–7 μm (x̄ = 16.2 × 6.2 µm, n = 20), bi-seriate or obliquely uni-seriate, partially overlapping, ellipsoid,uniseptate, slightly constricted at the septum, rounded at the ends, smooth-walled, thin-walled without a gelatinous sheath, brown to chestnut or pale brown. Asexual morph: Unknown.

Importance and distribution
Dimerosporiopsis comprises two species. Dimerosporiopsis engleriana is known on flowers of Ericinella mannii (Ericaceae) in Africa (Tanzania). Dimerosporiopsis macrospora is reported on male cones of Pinus monticola (Pinaceae) in The United States (Idaho).
