Importance and distribution

Neohelicosporium comprises twenty-two species known from decaying wood in freshwater streams and from Juglandaceae, Malvaceae and Myrtaceae. Neohelicosporium has been reported from Asia (China, India, Java, Thailand) and The United States (Ohio, South Carolina). More species can be discovered in the future.
