Importance and distribution

There are seven epithets of Acanthostigmina in Index Fungorum (2022) but, some species have been transferred to Acanthostigma, Acanthohelicospora and Taphrophila. Lu et al. (2018) accepted two species A. minuta and A. multiseptatum. Acanthostigmina minuta is known from Fagus sylvatica (Fagaceae), while A. multiseptatum was found on unidentified hosts in the United States.
