Bathelium mastoideum

Importance and distribution

There are 49 Bathelium epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but several species have been transferred to Astrothelium, Laurera, Marcelaria, Phyllobathelium, Pyrenula and Trypethelium. Bathelium comprises 16 species known on Citrus aurantiifolia (Rutaceae), bark of Byrsonima spicata (Malpighiaceae) and bark of Ochthocosmus africanus (Ixonanthaceae). Bathelium is reported from Africa (Sierra Leone), Asia (India, Vietnam) and South America (Bolivia, Brazil).
