Importance and distribution

Racoplaca comprises five lichenized species known on living leaves. Racoplaca melanobapha is a pantropical species known from Africa (Sierra Leone), Asia (Borneo Island, China), Australia, Europe (France (Guiana)) and South America (Brazil (Peru). Racoplaca maculata and R. tremens are known from South America (Brazil), R. subtilissima is known from Europe (France) while R. transversoundulata is reported from South America (Guyana) (Jiang et al. 2020).
