Notes: No morphological description is available for Zopfiofoveola. Hawksworth (1979) differentiated Zopfiofoveola from Zopfia based on its uniformly distributed ornamentation with pale tiny pits easily visible under the light microscope, and the more elongate shape and less noticeable apical papilla than those of Zopfia (Hawksworth 1979). Hawksworth (1979) mentioned that the type specimen of this genus cannot be re-described as “the type species is only known from a microscopic preparation obtained from earthworm excrements in Sweden”. Zopfiofoveola is treated as a distinct genus in Zopfiaceae but fresh collections and molecular data is needed to confirm this taxonomic placement.
