Importance and distribution

There are 39 Thyridaria epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but several species have been transferred to Cryptosphaeria, Cyclothyriella, Eutypa, Kalmusia, Lasiodiplodia and Pseudotrichia. Thyridaria comprises 30 species known on a wide range of hosts such as Acer platanoides (Sapindaceae), Aquilaria malaccensis (Thymelaeaceae), branches of Hibiscadelphus giffardianus (Malvaceae), Broussonetia papyrifera (Moraceae), Buxus sempervirens (Buxaceae), Calamus (Acoraceae), dead Thevetia neriifolia (Apocynaceae), Hevea brasiliensis (Euphorbiaceae) and many more. Thyridaria is recorded from Africa (Sierra Leone, Tanzania), Asia (Philippines, Dutch East Indies, Russia), Europe (France, Italy), North America (Caribbean (Dominican Republic), The United States) and South America (Venezuela).
