Index Fungorum number: IF 821455; Facesoffungi number: FoF 08182, 1 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2021), 1 species with molecular data.

Saprobic on woody plants. Sexual morph: Ascomata subglobose to depressed ellipsoidal. Ostiolar neck crest-like, elongated, laterally compressed. Peridium composed of globose to rectangular, hyaline to brown cells, with brown hyphae at side. Pseudoparaphyses septate, branched and anastomosed. Notes: Antealophiotrema differs from Lophiotrema s. str in having a well-developed peridium and monodictys-like asexual morph. Phylogenetically, Antealophiotrema is in a lineage distinct from Lophiotrema s.str and is currently placed in Pleosporales genera incertae sedis. Molecular markers available for Antealophiotrema are ITS, LSU, SSU and TEF-1.
