Importance and distribution

There are 13 Pseudotrichia epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but two species have been transferred to Thysanolaenae. Pseudotrichia comprises eleven species known on Alnus sp. (Betulaceae), bamboo (Poaceae), Carpinus betulus (Betulaceae), Fagus sylvatica (Fagaceae), Fraxinus excelsior (Oleaceae), grass (Poaceae), Picea excelsa (Pinaceae), Populus tremula (Salicaceae) and Thysanolaena maxima (Poaceae). Pseudotrichia is recorded from Asia (Sri Lanka, Thailand), Europe (Czech Republic, Denmark, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden), South America (Venezuela) and The United States (Wisconsin).
