Importance and distribution
There are 71 Nodulosphaeria epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but several species have been transferred to Kalmusia, Leptosphaeria, Ophiobolus, Paraleptosphaeria, Pleospora, Pseudoophiobolus, Pyrenophora, Sigarispora and Wettsteinina. Nodulosphaeria comprises 46 species known on a wide range of host such as Achillea sp. (Asteraceae), Adenostyles alliariae (Asteraceae), Artemisia sp. (Asteraceae), Centaurea jacea (Asteraceae), Chrysanthemum vulgare (Asteraceae), Cichorium intybus (Asteraceae), Gnaphalium sylvaticum (Asteraceae), Jasminum humile (Oleaceae), Leontodon sp. (Asteraceae), Senecio fuchsii (Asteraceae) and Tanacetum sp. (Asteraceae). Nodulosphaeria is known from Asia (Pakistan), Europe (Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Norway, Poland, Sweden and Switzerland) and North America (Canada).
