Paramonodictys N.G. Liu, K.D. Hyde & J.K. Liu, in Hyde et al., Fungal Diversity 100: 90 (2020).

Index Fungorum number: IF 557092; Facesoffungi number: FoF 06709, 1 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), 1 species with molecular data.

Saprobic on decaying wood. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Hyphomycetous. Colonies on natural substrate superficial, effuse, scattered, solitary, black. Mycelium partly immersed, partly superficial, composed of brown, branched, septate hyphae. Stroma present, erumpent, erect, subcylindrical or truncated-cone-form, pale brown to olivaceous brown. Type species: Paramonodictys solitarius N.G. Liu, K.D. Hyde & J.K. Liu

Notes: Paramonodictys was introduced by Liu et al. in Hyde et al. (2020) with P. solitarius as type species. Paramonodictys is characterised by solitary, black colonies, erumpent, erect stroma, monoblastic conidiogenous cells and solitary, dictyosporous, muriform conidia. Paramonodictys differs from Monodictys sensu stricto in having a stroma (Ellis 1971). Paramonodictys is a well-distinct and supported genus in Parabambusicolaceae. Molecular markers available for Paramonodictys include ITS, LSU, SSU, RPB2 and TEF-1.
