Importance and role

Importance of genus to ecosystem

Species of Calyptronectria are saprobic and play a role in nutrient recycling in the ecosystem.

Industrial relevance and applications

There are currently no industrial applications of Calyptronectria.

Quarantine significance

No biocontrol agent has been reported from Calyptronectria.

Biochemical importance of the genus, chemical diversity or applications

The chemical diversity of Calyptronectria has not been investigated

Diversity of the genus

Although there is four Calyptronectria epithet in Index fungorum, the real number of species is less as C. ohiensis has been synonymized and transferred to another genus mainly Mattirolia. Calyptronectria comprises three species known on three host plants and plant families namely Annonaceae, Apiaceae and Euphorbiaceae. Calyptronectria has been reported from Buenos Aires and Maharashtra. Many hosts and regions are still under studied for the genus. Many species of Calyptronectria can be discovered from comprehensive studies.
