Index Fungorum number: IF 9562; Facesoffungi number: FoF 08294, 5 morphological species (Species Fungorum, 2022), 5 species with molecular data.

Pathogenic on host. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Colonies on MEA restricted, velvety, grey green; reverse dark grey to black. Colonies on OA woolly, dark grey to olivaceous. Pycnidia observed after 8 wk of incubation on OA, black, solitary, obpyriform with long neck. Conidiophores ampulliform hyaline, phialidic. Conidia hyaline, unicellular, subspherical to ellipsoidal. No assimilation of xylose; sensitive to cyclohexamide (adapted from Ahmed et al. 2014).

Type species: Pseudochaetosphaeronema larense (Borelli & R. Zamora) Punith.

Notes: Pseudochaetosphaeronema was introduced by Punith (1979) with P. larense as type species. Pseudochaetosphaeronema is characterized by solitary, obpyriform pycnidia with long neck, ampulliform hyaline, phialidic conidiophores hyaline, unicellular, subspherical to ellipsoidal conidia. The sexual morph of Pseudochaetosphaeronema is unknown.  Pseudochaetosphaeronema is morphologically and phylogenetically a distinct genus in Macrodiplodiopsidaceae. Molecular markers available for Pseudochaetosphaeronema are LSU, SSU, ITS, TEF1.
