Importance and distribution

Sigarispora comprises fourteen species. Sigarispora species confirmed with molecular data are associated with fifteen hosts (Species Fungorum 2022) and nine plant families Asteraceae, Caryophyllaceae, Fabaceae, Juncaceae, Lamiaceae, Poaceae, Ranunculaceae, Rosaceae and Scrophulariaceae. Sigarispora is distributed in Asia (China, Japan, Russia) and Europe (Italy, United Kingdom) (Li et al. 2016; Thambugala et al. 2015; Tibpromma et al. 2017; Wanasinghe et al. 2018; Phukhamsakda et al. 2020). Sigarispora clavata was found on submerged wood in freshwater (Bao et al. 2019).
