Importance and distribution
There are 55 Platystomum epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but several species have been transferred to Anthostomella, Dangeardiella, Decaisnella and Platysporoides. Platystomum comprises 40 species known on Acer glabrum (Sapindaceae), Bambusa sp. (Poaceae), Desmodium sp. (Fabaceae), Lonicera sp. (Caprifoliaceae), Olea europaea (Oleaceae), Salix sp. (Salicaceae), Lonicera etrusca (Caprifoliaceae), Plectranthus rugosus (Lamiaceae), Quercus ilex (Fagaceae) and Gochnatia ilicifolia (Asteraceae). Platystomum has been recorded from Asia (Hong Kong, Iran, Pakistan), Europe (England, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom) and The United States (Washington).
