Kiskunsagia

Kiskunsagia D.G. Knapp, Imrefi & Kovács, in Crous et al., Persoonia 42: 375 (2019).

Index Fungorum number: IF 830107; Facesoffungi number: FoF 08276, 1 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), 1 species with molecular data.

Endophytic on roots. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Colonies covering the petri dish in 2 weeks. Colony on PDA flat, spreading, with moderate aerial mycelium and smooth, lobate margin, no exudates observed. Colony on MEA creamy, yellow to white with an entire edge and sparse aerial mycelium, no exudates observed. Strains generally stain the media to pale orange. Cultures sterile (adapted from Crous et al. 2019).

Type species: Kiskunsagia ubrizsyi D.G. Knapp, Imrefi & Kovács

Notes: Kiskunsagia was introduced by Knapp et al. in Crous et al. (2019) with K. ubrizsyi as type species. Kiskunsagia is characterised by yellow to white aerial mycelium and it does not sporulate in culture. Kiskunsagia is a distinct genus in Lophiostomaceae. Molecular markers available for Kiskunsagia include LSU, SSU, ITS and TEF-1.
