Importance and distribution
There are 42 Lizonia epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but many have been transferred to other genera such as Botryostroma, Cainiella, Epipolaeum, Eudimeriolum, Euryachora, Gibbera, Hilberina, Microcyclus, Mycosphaerella, Otthia, Otthiella, Phyllachora, Rosenscheldiella and Uleodothis. Lizonia is reported from seven host plants in Asteraceae, Caryophyllaceae, Leguminosae, Pinaceae, Polytrichaceae and Styracaceae. Lizonia is reported from Asia (Japan), Europe (Austria, Belgium, Switzerland), New Zealand and South America (Brazil, Chile (Biobío), Guyana, Paraguay).
