Importance and distribution
Hongkongmyces comprises four species. Hongkongmyces aquaticus was found on decaying wood, submerged in freshwater in Asia (Thailand), H. pedis was isolated from foot of sapiens human in Asia (Hong Kong), H. snookiorum from submerged detritus from a fresh water fern in The United States and H. thailandicus from decaying wood in Asia (Thailand).
