Importance and role

Importance of genus to ecosystem

Species of Neoplatysporoides are saprobic and play a role in nutrient recycling in the ecosystem.

Industrial relevance and applications

There are currently no industrial applications of Neoplatysporoides.

Quarantine significance

No biocontrol agent has been reported from Neoplatysporoides. Further studies are needed.

Biochemical importance of the genus, chemical diversity or applications

The chemical diversity of Neoplatysporoides has not been investigated.

Diversity of the genus

Neoplatysporoides comprises two species known on one host plant and plant family namely (Asphodelaceae). Neoplatysporoides seems to be host specific but this warrants further investigation. Neoplatysporoides has been reported from South Africa and Tanzania. Many hosts and regions are still understudied for this genus and more species can be discovered in future studies.
