Importance and distribution

Pontoporeia comprises two marine species. Pontoporeia biturbinata was reported on living and drift rhizomes of Posidonia oceanica (Posidoniaceae) in Africa (Algeria) while P. mangrovei is known on decaying wood of Suaeda monoica (Amaranthaceae) in Asia (India).
