Pathogenic on host. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Conidiomata pycnidial, pale brown to brown, solitary, setose, globose, ostiolate. Pycnidial wall of textura angularisConidiogenous cells phialidic, ampulliform or lageniform. Conidia aseptate, hyaline, smooth- and thin-walled, allantoid or ellipsoidal (Adapted from Valenzuela-Lopez et al. 2018).

 

Type species: Vacuiphoma bulgarica (Aveskamp, Gruyter & Verkley) Valenz.-Lopez, J.F. Cano, Crous, Guarro & Stchigel

 

Notes: Vacuiphoma was introduced by Valenz.-Lopez et al. (2018) with V. bulgarica as type species. Vacuiphoma is characterized by pycnidial, brown to dark brown, solitary, glabrous, subglobose or obpyriform conidiomata, pycnidial wall of textura angularis, non-papillate. Vacuiphoma is unique and was named based on the existence of empty pycnidial structures. Vacuiphoma is phylogenetically a distinct genus in Didymellaceae.
