Dictyocheirospora
Dictyocheirospora M.J. D'souza, Boonmee & K.D. Hyde, Fungal Divers. 80: 465 (2016).
Index Fungorum number: IF 551580; Facesoffungi number: FoF 01261, 22 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2021), 11 species with molecular data.
Saprobic terrestrial, aero-aquatic, on decaying wood. Sexual morph: Undetermined. Asexual morph: Hyphomycetous. Conidiomata on natural substrate sporodochial, punctiform, dark brown. Mycelium immersed, consisting of branched, septate, sub hyaline to pale brown hyphae. Conidiophores micronematous or semimacronematous, septate, hyaline or subhyaline to pale brown, smooth. Conidiogenous cells integrated, holoblastic, terminal, determinate, doliiform to cylindrical. Conidia acrogenous, solitary, dry, cheiroid, pale brown, complanate or noncomplanate, euseptate or distoseptate, smooth-walled, with 6–8 rows of cells, with or without hooked apices, with or without appendages (Adapted from Boonmee et al. 2016).
Type species: Dictyocheirospora rotunda M.J. D'souza, Bhat & K.D. Hyde
Notes: Dictyocheirospora was introduced by D'souza et al. (2016) with D. rotunda as type species. Dictyocheirospora is characterized by dark sporodochial conidiomata, micronematous or semimacronematous conidiophores, aeroaquatic cheiroid dictyospores conidia. The type species of Dictyocheirospora, D. rotunda is similar to D. heptaspora in conidial shape and size. However, the rows of D. rotunda are inseparable without physical force, whereas those in D. heptaspora are effortlessly separable (Damon 1952; Tsui et al. 2006). Dictyocheirospora is a distinct and well-established genus in Dictyosporiaceae based on both morphology and phylogenetic analyses.
