Importance and distribution
Weddellomyces species are lichenicolous host-specific parasites. Weddellomyces comprises 12 species known on thallus of Aspicilia radiosa (Megasporaceae), Caloplaca sp. (Teloschistaceae), Gasparrinia macquariensis (Teloschistaceae), thallus of Pertusaria lactea (Pertusariaceae), immersed in thallus of Caloplaca proteus (Teloschistaceae), thallus of Acarospora (Acarosporaceae) and thallus of Xanthoparmelia protomatrae (Parmeliaceae). Weddellomyces is distributed in Europe (France, Germany, United Kingdom, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey) and Macquarie Island.
