Importance and role

Importance of genus to ecosystem

Species of Neoconiothyrium are saprobic and can maintain nutrient cycle within the ecosystem.

Industrial relevance and applications

There is currently no industrial application of Neoconiothyrium.

 

Quarantine significance

No biocontrol agent from Neoconiothyrium has been identified so far. Further studies are needed.

 

Biochemical importance of the genus, chemical diversity or applications

The chemical diversity of Neoconiothyrium is unknown.

 

Diversity of the genus

Neoconiothyrium comprises four species known on three host plants and two plant families namely Protaceae and Vitaceae. Neoconiothyrium is reported from Maharashtra, New South Wales, New Zealand and Western Australia.
