Importance and distribution

There are 65 Astrosphaeriella epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but many have been transferred to other genera such as Astrosphaeriellopsis, Fissuroma, Javaria, Kirschsteiniothelia, Longicorpus, Mycomicrothelia, Pseudoastrosphaeriella, Rimora and Xenoastrosphaeriella. Astrosphaeriellopsis comprises 50 species known on a wide range of hosts such as Acoraceae, Arecaceae, Poaceae and Primulaceae. Astrosphaeriella has a worldwide distribution such as Asia (Brunei, Hong Kong, Indonesia (Java), Japan, Thailand), Australia (Queensland), Caribbean (Cuba), Oceania (Papua New Guinea), South America (Venezuela) and The United States (Florida).
