Importance and distribution

Rimula comprises 28 species known on several host plants such as rotten wood of Fagus sylvatica (Fagaceae), twigs and young branches of Anopterus glandulosus (Escalloniaceae) and Frullania (Frullaniaceae). Rimula is reported from Australia (New South Wales, Tasmania, Papua New Guinea), Europe (Czech Republic), North America (Canada), South America (Chile) amongst others. Several species of Rimula have been transferred to Lambiella.
