Haematomyxa Sacc., Botanisches Centralblatt 18: 250 (1884).

Saprobic on host. Sexual morph: Apothecia subglobose, gelatinous. Asci broadly clavate, 8-spored, comprising brown muriform ascospores. Ascospores biseriate, elongate-elliptical, multiseptate, muriform, brown. Asexual morph: Unknown (adapted from Saccardo 1884).

 Type species: Haematomyxa vinosa (Cooke & Ellis) Sacc.

Notes: Haematomyxa is characterised by subglobose, gelatinous apothecia, broadly clavate, 8-spored asci and biseriate, elongate-elliptical, multiseptate, muriform, brown ascospores. Molecular data is lacking for Haematomyxa. Haematomyxa is currently a distinct genus in Patellariaceae. Fresh collections and DNA sequence data are required to confirm the taxonomic placement of Haematomyxa.
