Molecular data is lacking for Cyclostomella. Inácio and Cannon (2008) provided a morphological comparison of four taxa of Cyclostomella. Cyclostomella is currently a distinct genus in Parmulariaceae. Fresh collections with DNA sequence data are needed to confirm the taxonomic placement of the genus.
