Myriangium duriaei
Myriangium duriaei Mont. & Berk., in Berkeley, London J. Bot. 4: 73 (1845).
Index Fungorum number: IF 436310; Facesoffungi number: FoF 08099, Fig. 1
Description: see Dissanayake et al. (2014).
Material considered: see Dissanayake et al. (2014).
Fig. 1 Myriangium duriaei (PC-NL 8414, holotype). a Ascostromata on host surface. b Locules in the cross-section of the ascostromata (redrawn from Ernst Albert Gäumann 1928). c, d Apedicellate asci with 8 ascospores. e, f Ascospores. Scale bars: a = 1000 μm, b = 500 μm, c, d = 30 μm, e, f = 10 μm.
Importance and distribution
There are 47 Myriangium epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but some species have been transferred to other genera such as Angatia, Elsinoe, Molleriella, Myriangiella, Myriangiopsis and Uleomyces. Myriangium has been reported from a wide range of hosts in Apocynaceae, Combretaceae, Ericaceae, Fabaceae, Lamiaceae, Rhamnaceae, Rubiaceae and Rutaceae. Myriangium has a wide distribution including Asia (India), Australia (Victoria) and South America (Argentina, Brazil). Even though, high diversity exists in Myriangium, molecular data is lacking, and new species must be established based on molecular data.
