Importance and distribution

Ascostratum comprises two species. Ascostratum cainii was found on leaves of Ledum groenlandicum (Ericaceae). Ascostratum insigne was reported on bark of Euphorbia (Euphorbiaceae) in Africa (KwaZulu-Natal).
