Importance and distribution
Elsinoe comprises 194 species known on several host plants within Amaranthaceae, Anacardiaceae, Annonaceae, Apocynaceae, Fabaceae, Malvaceae, Moraceae and Passifloraceae. One species E. purpurascens has been transferred to Anhellia. Elsinoe has been reported from several countries such as Africa (Uganda), Asia (India), North America (Hawaiian Islands) and South America (Brazil). Elsinoe has a wide host and geographical range. The type species of Elsinoe, E. canavaliae lacks sequence data and fresh collection would be useful.
