Role and distribution

Species of Phillipsiella are saprobic on leaves of Casearia (Salicaceae), Crescentia cujete (Bignoniaceae), Pseudosasa japonica (Poaceae), Quercus (Fagaceae) and Smilax aspera (Smilacaceae). Members of Phillipsiella are reported from Asia (Georgia, Japan, India), North America (California, Dominican Republic, Florida) and South America (Brazil).
