Importance and distribution
There are eighteen Paramycosphaerella epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but seven species have been transferred to other genera such as Hyalozasmidium, Mycosphaerelloides, Pseudozasmidium and Virosphaerella. Paramycosphaerella comprises eleven species known on Blechnum serrulatum (Blechnaceae), Brachystegia (Fabaceae), Cyathea (Cyatheaceae), Dicranopteris (Gleicheniaceae), Eucalyptus tectifica (Myrtaceae), Malus (Rosaceae), Musa (Musaceae), Sticherus (Gleicheniaceae), Wachendorfia (Haemodoraceae) and Watsonia (Iridaceae). Paramycosphaerella has a wide distribution including Africa (South Africa, Zimbabwe), Asia (China, Thailand, Vietnam), Europe (Portugal), Oceania (Australia, New Zealand), South America (Brazil) and the United States (New York).
