Neoramichloridium

Neoramichloridium Phookamsak, Thambug. & K.D. Hyde, in Thambugala et al., Mycosphere 8(4): 732 (2017).

Index Fungorum number: IF 553183; Facesoffungi number: FoF 08525, 1 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), 1 species with molecular data.

Associated with leaf spots on bamboo. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Conidiophores aggregated, in loose fascicles, erect, flexuous, subcylindrical, brown to pale brown, septate. Conidiogenous cells integrated, terminal, polyblastic, hyaline to pale brown denticulate, subcylindrical; conidiogenous loci sympodial, forming a short rachis with darkened, thickened, refractive tips. Conidia single, hyaline to subhyaline, obovoid to clavate, base truncate, with unthickened, non-pigmented hilum, smooth-walled (adapted from Thambugala et al. 2017).

Type species: Neoramichloridium bambusicola Thambugala, Phookamsak & K.D. Hyde

Notes: Neoramichloridium is characterised by subcylindrical, brown to pale brown, septate conidiophores, polyblastic, hyaline to pale brown denticulate conidiogenous cells, and hyaline to subhyaline, obovoid to clavate conidia. Neoramichloridium resembles Ramichloridium in having unbranched conidiophores and aseptate conidia, but differs in having aggregated conidiophores with unthickened, non-pigmented hilum (Arzanlou et al. 2007; Crous et al. 2009). Neoramichloridium belongs to Mycosphaerellaceae while Ramichloridium sensu stricto belongs to Dissoconiaceae. Molecular markers available for Neoramichloridium are ITS and LSU.
