Importance and distribution

Neocercosporidium comprises only one species known on Smilax and other Smilacaceae. Neocercosporidium is reported from Africa (Libya), Europe (Spain, Portugal), South America (Venezuela) and the United States (Eastern states, Florida, Iowa, Minnesota, Mississippi, New York, Texas, Wisconsin).
