Index Fungorum number: IF 829398; Facesoffungi number: FoF xx, 1 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2021), 1 species with molecular data.
Acidophilic on host. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Colonies slow growing, black in reverse, velvety and green in obverse, compact, lobed, cerebriform, with regular margin. Mycelium composed of pigmented hyphae, constricted at the septa (Adapted from Egidi et al. 2013).

Hyphoconis is characterized by pigmented hyphae which are usually constricted at the septa. Hyphoconis can be identified based on DNA sequence data. The taxonomic placement of Hyphoconis is not confirmed and is currently in Capnodiales, genera incertae sedis.
